Residential Christmas lights

Christmas Lights in Bloomington, MN

We hang them, and we come back and take them down. AJS puts Christmas lights on homes in Bloomington and across the Twin Cities metro, from a walk of the house in the autumn to takedown after the holidays.

Who does the work

Who gets up on the roof?

Not you. Hanging Christmas lights means ladders and cold roof edges, and that work is ours. Andrew and his team hang the lights on your house in Bloomington or anywhere across the metro, after we walk the house and agree on a plan for what gets lit.

Then we look after the season. If a run of lights fails mid-season, you tell us and we come back to look at it. When the holidays are over, we come back again and take everything down, labelled and stored so next year's install goes faster.

This is a new service for AJS, so there are no photos of finished houses on this page yet. What is here instead is the plan, drawn out below.

The plan

What a plan covers

This is an illustration, not a photo of a finished house. It shows where lights go on a typical home: the roofline, the peak, the porch, the trees, the shrubs and the front walk. The numbers match the list that follows.

What gets lit

What gets lit on a house in Bloomington

A plan picks from these six places. You decide how much of the house to light, and the plan is built around that.

Rooflines and eaves

The long roof edge and the gutter line give a house its outline from the street. The lights are clipped along that edge, so the wire hangs in short, even sags between clips instead of one tight pull.

The gable peak

The peak and its two angled edges are the first thing a passing car sees. The lights follow both edges up to the point, so the shape of the roof reads at a glance.

Porch and railings

Lights run along the porch roof edge and swag between the posts. The railing can be wrapped too, so the front entry glows.

Wrapped trunks

Trunks near the house are wrapped from the base upward in an even spiral, which puts light in the yard as well as on the roof.

Shrubs

Foundation shrubs and low bushes get lights laid across them, so each one glows as a rounded shape against the wall.

The front walk

Lights mark both edges of the front walk, from the street to the door, so the way in is lit as well as the house.

The season

We hang them. We come back and take them down.

Five stops, from the autumn walkthrough to storage. The first three are lit, because that is when the house is.

  1. Autumn

    Walk the house

We walk the house with you, look at the rooflines, the porch, the trees and the walk, and agree on a plan for what gets lit.

  2. Install

    Hang the lights

The lights go up where the plan says, and the house is lit.

  3. During the season

    Fix a failed run

If a run of lights fails, you tell us and we come back to look at it.

  4. After the holidays

    Take it down

We come back and take every light down.

  5. Put away

    Label and store

Each run is labelled and stored, so next year's install goes faster.

Questions

Christmas light questions, answered

Plain answers, including the ones that are not settled yet.

Who hangs the Christmas lights on my house in Bloomington?

AJS does. Andrew and his team hang the lights, so nobody in your household needs to get on a ladder or a cold roof. The work starts with a walk of the house, where we look at the rooflines, the porch, the trees and the front walk, and agree on a plan for what gets lit.

Does AJS supply the Christmas lights, or hang the ones I already have?

That is not settled yet. Christmas lights are a new service for AJS, and whether we supply the lights or hang ones you already own is still being decided. Ask when you request a quote, and Andrew will tell you where it stands for your house in Bloomington.

How much does Christmas light installation cost in Bloomington?

There is no price to give yet. Christmas lights are new at AJS and nothing is priced. What will move the number is how much roofline there is, how tall the house is, and how many of the other spots you want lit: the porch, trees, shrubs and front walk. Describe the house when you request a quote.

When do the lights go up, and when do they come down?

The season starts with a walkthrough in the autumn, the lights go up on the agreed plan, and they come down after the holidays. Exact dates are not fixed yet and depend on the house. Request a quote and Andrew can tell you what the schedule looks like for your home in Bloomington.

What if a string of lights stops working in the middle of the season?

Tell us and we come back to look at it. Checking a failed run mid-season is part of the plan for Christmas lights in Bloomington. How quickly a visit happens, and whether it carries a charge, are not settled yet, so ask about both when you request a quote.

What happens to the lights after the holidays?

We come back after the holidays and take them down, so nothing stays on your roofline once the season is over. Each run is labelled and stored, which makes next year's install faster. Where the lights are kept and who owns them are not settled yet, so raise both when you request a quote.

Which towns does AJS hang Christmas lights in?

AJS hangs Christmas lights on homes in Bloomington, Eagan, Eden Prairie, Plymouth, Minneapolis and across the Twin Cities metro. Andrew is based in Bloomington. If your town is not on the list below, ask when you request a quote. The same plan applies to every house.

Christmas Lights

Christmas light installation for homes, with takedown after the holidays and labelled storage so next season goes up faster.
We walk the house with you first, in daylight, and work out what gets lit: the roofline and eaves, the gable peak, the porch and railings, the trunks of the front trees, the walkway. Then we agree the plan before anyone gets on a ladder. The install is ours to worry about. Clips rather than staples, runs measured to the roofline, and the power sorted out so you are not running cords through a window. If a run fails in the middle of the season, tell us and we will come and sort it. After the holidays we come back, take everything down, and store it labelled by run so next year is a shorter job. AJS Outdoor Services works across Bloomington, Eagan, Eden Prairie, Plymouth and the Twin Cities metro. Request a quote and we will come and look at the house.
